Wendy Williams Sued By Promoter

 

Talk show host Wendy Williams has been sued by a concert promoter who claims he paid Wendy $25,000 to appear at an Atlantic City resort. The promoter says Wendy ordered up expensive booze and acted ungrateful at the event. According to the lawsuit … Williams was supposed to make a 2-hour appearance to take the mic on stage, but instead retreated to a cabana at The Pool at Harrah’s Resort.  The suit claims Williams hardly mingled with guests and left after only an hour, after complaining how she and her husband wanted to leave. Williams “disappointed her fans who came out expecting her to host the party.” And the suit alleges … Williams — who is on “Dancing with the Stars” and hosts her own show –  demanded 4 bottles of Ace of Spades champagne and 2 bottles of white wine at her cabana. 

Rihanna Is Being Sued by Photographer David LaChapelle

Photographer David LaChapelle is accusing Rihanna of ripping off his work. According to Billboard David filed a copyright infringement suit...

Rihanna’s lurid and brightly colored music video “S&M” was “directly derived” from pictures taken by prominent U.S. fashion photographer David LaChapelle, he said in a lawsuit made public on Monday.

LaChapelle, who has shot celebrities for magazines such as Rolling Stone, GQ and Vanity Fair, said “the music video is directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works.”

Rihanna, 22, has sold over 25 million albums worldwide and dominated music charts in the U.S. with singles such as “Umbrella” and “What’s My Name.” The single “S&M”, however, has fizzled on the charts, and the video has been banned in some countries for its sexual content.

In the suit, LaChapelle said Rihanna had appropriated eight of his images into the video, such as a shot where she is shown in profile against a blue background with a piece of candy on her tongue.

LaChapelle said Rihanna’s video copied the “composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting” of his work.

He is suing for unspecified damages. A spokeswoman for Rihanna did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Well all I can say is that she needs to pay up. I'm sure someone from her camp or the video production crew saw that there were too many similarities to David's work and some changes to the concept for the "S & M" should have been made. What gets me is that they put this video out and no one sees it because it is banned on several channels and in many countries. What were they thinking?

Kelis Is Being Sued By Her Maid

Kelis’ maid is claiming she worked for the singer and she has not been paid for her services. The maid is an illegal immigrant and is hesitant in filing a lawsuit. TMZ reports:

Kelis’ housekeeper claims the R&B singer owes her $900 in unpaid wages — and according to sources, there’s one major problem preventing her from seeking justice … she’s an illegal alien.
We’re told Kelis’ maid earned $150 a day for her work … and since she only worked one day a week, that means Kelis somehow fell six weeks behind on her payments.
According to sources, the housekeeper is currently exploring her legal options — trying to lock down a lawyer to see if she can file anything with the California Labor Commission.
As we previously reported, Kelis’ rapper ex-husband Nas has been ordered to pay her over $25,000 a month in child and spousal support.

I hate to hear about people being taken advantage of and Kelis is so out of line. Pay the lady and move on. SMH.

50 Cent Sued For Copyright Infringement

50 Cent has been named in a  copyright infringement lawsuit over his 2007 song I Get Money. An aspiring rap artist from Atlanta, Ga., Tyrone “Caliber” Simmons, filed suit in New York seeking damages for copyright infringement and other claims. Caliber claims he purchased an exclusive license for all of the rights to I Get Money instrumental beat, from its producer William Stanberry, and that Stanberry and others, including Fiddy, knowingly infringed upon his rights.
