Ja Rule will have to wait another month before he’s sentenced on weapons charges. The rapper was in a New York courtroom on Wednesday where he had his sentencing pushed back until March 9th. Ja Rule pleaded guilty last December to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He is expected to receive two years behind bars for the crime. Ja’s legal troubles stem from his arrest in 2007 following a concert at New York’s Beacon Theater. Police conducted a search of the emcee’s vehicle and found a semi-automatic handgun inside the car. Lil Wayne was also arrested on weapons charges following the same concert and wound up spending eight months in Rikers Island last year. SMH

Bruno Mars Cops A Plea Deal

Mars' real name is Peter Hernandez. Defense lawyers David Chesnoff and Blair Berk said that if he pays a $2,000 fine, performs 200 hours of community service, completes drug counseling and stays out of trouble for a year, no conviction will remain on his record.
"Bruno is very appreciative he is being given this opportunity as a first offender not to suffer any conviction and instead to have his charge dismissed," Berk told The Associated Press. "He is taking all of this quite seriously."
The plea agreement will let Mars step past the Las Vegas cocaine charge a week before the 53rd Grammy Awards show in Los Angeles. Mars is nominated for seven awards, including best male pop vocal for his hit, "Just the Way You Are." He also co-wrote "(Expletive) You" and was featured on B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" — a nominee for record of the year.
I hope he has learned his lesson being that he is getting off with a slap on the wrist. If he chooses to engage in drug use, he can at least have common sense to use it in the privacy of his own home or where the public can't just walk up on him and catch him in the act.

Faith Evans' DUI Charges Dropped To Probation
A while back I reported that Faith Evans had been busted for a DUI. She was facing 6 months in jail after that little run in, but that's all behind her now. Faith was able to cut deal with the prosecutor and instead of being charged on 2 counts of DUI, she'll plead “no contest” to the charge of “reckless driving”, serve 36 months on probation, pay a $300 fine and undergo a 3-month alcohol program.

Tiny Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Possession Charges
The L.A. County District Attorney has charged T.I.'s wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle for possession of ecstasy when the couple was arrested on Sunset Strip September 1st. If convicted, Tameka could face up to a year behind bars. The D.A. has did not to prosecute T.I. for charges stemming from the incident because he will already be serving time in Georgia for a probation violation stemming from the L.A. arrest. Tiny has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is due back in court on January 6. I'll keep you posted on the developments.
