Everyone needs to sit back, have a cup of coffee and WATCH THIS:

I think you'll find a lot of your questions answered. And if you still want to hate on it, then that's your prerogative.

Hey mates! I live in the UK and according to what I've read, what american mobile companies are charging you is a rip-off! I pay 35 per month (tax included, about $55 USD) and I get: 2000 any network-any time minutes, 5000 same network minutes, 5000 any network messages, UNLIMITED internet, that's right, no capping, no "fair usage policies", UNLIMITED! AAAAND I can tether with up to 5 devices, (macbook and iPad in my case and even my mates iPod touch from time to time when we are out). No extra fees, no hidden tricks. And my iPhone is unlocked, so I can sell it when my contract finishes and any person can use in any country or any network. COMPLAIN PEOPLE!:apple:

I love how you all pretend like this is the first piece of intrusive software (Malware) for Macs or like there's no such thing as a virus for Mac...

I'll just leave this right here...http://www.clamxav.com/

if anyone knows a better one let me know, thnx.

Dude, the only viruses antivirus software ever pick up are Windows viruses, to prevent them from being passed along unintentionally to windows users. Most of what "antivirus" software does for macs is catch other forms of malware which are not viruses. This is part of the confusion about what the word "virus" means. The correct term for this software should be "antimalware", but the average consumer wouldn't know what that is if they saw it, so the misinformation continues.

I think it's pretty obvious that iTV will NOT have DVR functionality- The iTunes store is a competitor to DVR. This thing is a means of connecting your computer (iTunes) to your TV- not about connecting your TV to your computer. It's a completely different take on watch-your-show-whenever-you-feel-like-it mentality.

Might be great down the road, but something tells me my FCP7 will be plenty useful for at least the next couple years. So if you upgrade to the new Final Cut Studio which includes the new Final Cut Pro 7 for $299 will Final Cut Pro X be a free upgrade or what?

Never mind. Apple still has a NEW corner on the FCP page and my Zite just posted a 21 month old Apple press release as if it was news.

Yeah, he seems to have forgotton those personal computers known as the Apple ][, the Commodore PET, the Atari 400 and 800, and so on that predated the IBM PC. He's creating a very limited definition that ignores history.

This thread just shows that there are plenty of people in the world who think in self-centric ways - "I don't agree with this and I won't follow it - contract be damned."

Happens everyday - people speed on the highways because they feel that it's their car and they should be able to do whatever they want - they support their speeding by saying that studies show the speed limits are merely to provide revenue streams to municipal gov'ts.

Re: Napster and Limewire ... just delete and replace with things like Demonoid and ThePirateBay and it's all still relevant. The fact that someone isn't aware of the newer piracy sites just means that they've probably steered torwards legitimate pay sites like the rest of the community.

But hey, if we all played by the rules, I guess the U.K. flag would still be flying over our land as we would not have objected to the taxation without representation (whether the SS flag would have eventually superseded it is a different question - the might of this North American body would probably still have been sufficient regardless which flag, the Stars and Stripes or the Union Jack flew).

    happy day to all!

[For the record, I think charging extra for tethering is unfair - but charging exorbitant rates for SMS is also unfair --- make that "was" also unfair, since there are plenty of cheaper methods now than using the carrier - hopefully the same will happen with tethering).

I dont think iPads should be included. A computer shouldn't need a computer to be usable.

Agreed. I disagree completely with Steve & Co. when they refer to this or any other of their mobile devices as a 'Post-PC' device. Something that is 'after' the PC shouldn't rely on one (in large or small part) in order to function.

Could it be true? Their perfect computers now quite vulnerable.

I'm really surprised about lack of choice in picking your provider in the US for the iPhone. In most other countries where the iPhone is sold it is carried on every major carrier. In Canada all 4 major carriers have the iPhone.

stem cells is not altering the original genetical code. HUGE difference

The point is that Greenpeace opposes ALL R&D into GM foods, just as G.W. opposes ALL R&D into stem cell research, including research to use stem cells w/o harming the fetus.

Did you even read the article you posted? The stored solar energy is drained after 8 hours. Which means if you have a day where the sun is obstructed, your city will black out.

That's fine. As long as Apple does not come in to the gaming market and starts trying to strong arm third party big names all is good.

lol you are saying it like they can be strong armed. If you call paying large sums of money for exclusives "strong arming" then it's already happening in the gaming world.

It is really simple big names go to where the money is.

Apple has their rules. If you believe you can't work with them go somewhere else. It's a business, not a country you are born into.

Intel is really making Apple quick with those revisions...

No, not really. This would be the only fast update, if it happens (which I kinda doubt)
    iMac: 9 months
    MBP: 10 months
    mac mini: 8 months
    macbook: 5 months and counting

Those are actually wait times that are comparable or longer to what we saw in PPC days.

    1. What "punch"? If we're going to use arbitrary words, iPhones beat Android to the "desert". FACT
    2. Phone carriers selling Android devices and offering incentives helps the needs of those who do not afford to buy an iPhone but need a smartphone. I fixed it for you.
    3. No, they aren't. Please link some sources stating so?
    4. Sure, I'll give you that if you want to say it's a ripoff. This is a whole other issue.
    5. Sure. It's bound to.
    6. That tends to be the way of the Open Source area.
    7. I'd hope so. Any competitors selling iPhones should probably be sued, since you know, that'd be a blatant rip off.
    8. Sure.
    9. Yes, yes and yes.
    10. They're really just as bad as Apple's fanboys. I've noticed that the only difference in comments from the huge Apple fanboys and anti Apple fanboys are generally the words "Best" and "Worst" get flip flopped.

    1. In terms of marketshare. That's precisely what I meant. It's quite understood. FACT.
    2. But android is helping. There's shouldn't be a doubt. Maybe Apple says NO to that because of brand quality OR Apple cannot afford to lose that profit; whatever is the case, android helps with the help of the carriers or vice versa. FACT.
    3. HTC's quarterly report. Google it. FACT.
    4. But still, its a ripoff. FACT.
    5. True FACT.
    6. FACT FACT.
    7. Again, nitpicking things. FACT is a FACT.
    8. FACTy FACT.
    9. Yes is a FACT.
    10. No, they are not. Go anywhere; youtube, MR, Engadget, TC; they are really pathetic and disgusting; not android users, android fanboys. FACT.

    You forgot

    1. Battlestar Galactica (remake) is the best sci fi show of all time (FACT)
    2. Toaster Strudels are better than Pop Tarts (FACT)
    3. Kennedy was shot by multiple gunman (FACT)
    4. Brian Tong from CNET is worthless (FACT)
    5. SC2 is the best competitive RTS (FACT)
    6. Green is the new pink (FACT)
    7. Lady Ga Ga was NOT born that way (FACT)
    8. Republicans are heartless (FACT)
    9. Democrats promise everything and never deliver (FACT)
    10. OJ did it (FACT)

    FACT.

It is impossible for me to display any ignorance of a topic of which I have not addressed. I challenge you to find a post from me where I use the phrase "professional broadcast industry".

If you cannot do it, then you are constructing a lie out of whole cloth in order to attack me, because, apparently, you cannot construct a counter argument to any of the points I have made.

I think your need to attack me proves my case beyond any need of myself to defend my point or myself.

Of course you never used that particular phrase. You did claim that you couldn't take an Adobe "pro" seriously. What particular industry do you work in where that's the case?

Macs have again taken the lead in my opinion with OS X and the Dual 1.25.

No one will ever change my mind. Call me a zealot, but that is what I think.

I am in a critical thinking class, and we spend 3 hrs a day, 2 times a week talking about people who rationalize like BackToTheMac. "No one will ever change my mind"
That is complete suppression of all the facts that are given to you. I think its a shame that you logically in your mind come to these conclusions. I bet you think Friday the 13th is dangerous, and you have lucky numbers huh :)

And a nice Skype app that was able to send your private data out.

You apparently didn't read the article you quoted.

That version of Skype (since fixed) did not itself send any private data, which by the way, it has your permission to access.

It had a bug in the file permissions it used for caching contact etc info, which meant that it was possible for someone to write an app to look at it, since Skype didn't encrypt their cache files. There's no evidence anyone did so, though.

Kind of like how iOS apparently has a bug where our location history is available to anyone who writes an app to look at it.

Meh... if you're stupid enough to have open safe files checked.

Are you sure that is the end of it, just having safe files checked and this thing installs itself? I'm trying to figure out where this is happening (i tested it myself and all it did was unzip the .zip file, it didn't automatically launch the package installer and then click the Install button for me).
