Five Most Dropped Players: December 9-15
- Chris Kaman (10.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.2 blocks): Kaman's been a major disappointment this season due to an ankle injury that he's had trouble recovering from and a lack of production when he's actually been on the court. When healthy, he's still worth a roster spot in standard leagues even if he has been playing well below his average draft position. He'll be a hot add once he's closer to a return, most likely in early January.
- Charlie Villanueva (13.1 points, 2 three-pointers, 4.8 rebounds): For the second week in a row, Villanueva appears on this list. Charlie is the type of player that you just have to live with his inconsistency if you're gonig to keep him on your squad. He's coming off a huge game last night (23 points, 3 three-pointers, 11 rebounds, 3 steals), so expect a lot of fantasy owners to get back on the bandwagon. As I stated previously, you have to live through his 5-point, 1-rebound games to enjoy the 23-point, 11-rebound nights.
- Carl Landry (12 points, 4.5 rebounds): Landry has really struggled since being moved to a reserve role. He's averaged just 9.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in his last five games and his percentages have dropped off. At this point, he's not worth holding onto in standard leagues. He's the type of player whose only contribution comes in the form of scoring and when he's not even doing much of that, it's time to cut your losses as there are certainly better options available via free agency. Landry isn't likely to regain much of his value unless Kings head coach Paul Westphall decided to tinker with his starting five yet again.
- Jose Calderon (9.3 points, 6.4 assists, 81.3% FT%): Jose was a hot add just a few weeks ago following the Jarrett Jack trade, but many fantasy owners have been quick to drop him due to a recent foot injury. Calderon still figures to see the bulk of the playing time when he returns, possibly as early as tonight, but Raptors head coach Jay Triano has stated that Jerryd Bayless will see more playing time following his impressive play in Calderon's place. We feel Calderon is a player you should hold on to because he'll be a huge boost to your assist, steal, three-point, and FT% numbers. Even if he ends up in a time share with Bayless, he should still have enough value to be worth keeping in a standard league.
- Amir Johnson (9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, 59.4% FG%, 80.3% FT%): Johnson is a player threatening to crack our top 50 that nobody seems to want. Even if percentages don't matter in your league, he's a good source of rebounds, points, and blocks. If percentages do matter in your league, he has no business being a free agent. Do yourself a favor and grab him before someone else does following his 12-point, 12-rebound, 2-block night.
