Five Most Dropped Players: January 6-12

  1. Anderson Varejao (9.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, 52.8% FG%): With news that he's out for the rest of the season, it's no wonder Varejao has been widely dropped. Anyone who still has him on their roster should be looking for a replacement immediately.
  2. Linas Kleiza (11.5 points, 1 three-pointer, 4.7 rebounds): After being a hot add a couple of weeks ago, fantasy owners have shunned Kleiza as he's struggled in his last five games after having a stretch of six games in double figures. Kleiza just hasn't shown the consistency that would make him worth a roster spot in standard formats. His value is limited to deeper leagues.
  3. Charlie Villanueva (13 points, 1.7 three-pointers, 4.9 rebounds): Villanueva has been one of the most up-and-down players all season, both on the court and on our most added/dropped lists. As we've pointed out many times, he's just an inconsistent player. He's struggled of late, but he could put up a huge game at any time. That is just something Villanueva owners have to understand. Even with his recent poor performances, he's still within our top 100 and should be owned in all formats unless his bad play continues for an extended period. Charlie is available in about a third of leagues.
  4. Caron Butler (15 points, 1 three-pointer, 4.1 rebounds, 1 steal): Caron appears on this list for the second consecutive week as fantasy owners continue replacing him after his season-ending injury. If for some reason you haven't dropped him yet, be sure to do so quickly.
  5. Grant Hill (14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 51.2% FG%, 82.4% FT%): Many team managers elected to drop the veteran out of Duke after his recent injury. The injury looked worse than it actually was as Hill is expected to miss just a couple of games and could return this week. Hill has been close to the top 50 of our player ratings all season and he should be owned in all formats. If he's available in your league, make sure you get him on your roster. He'll give you a nice boost in the percentages and points while also making contributions in rebounds and assists. Hill is available in about 30% of leagues.
